The Hubble Space Telescope completed its 200,000th orbit around Earth on September 19.^[2] Over 36 years in operation, Hubble has travelled more than 8 billion kilometres and conducted over 1.7 million scientific observations. It launched in April 1990, and was originally specified for a 15 year service life.^[3]^[4] NASA projects the telescope will continue providing scientific contributions until the mid 2030s.^[5] The Aqueous Metal Cell is built on nickel-hydrogen chemistry, the same chemistry that powered Hubble and the International Space Station for decades.^[1]
