Cornell releases results of two light-sail experiments

Student team reports on Alpha CubeSat and Sailing to the Stars missions flown to the space station in late 2025.

Cornell's Space Systems Design Studio released mission results for two light-sail experiments, Alpha CubeSat and Sailing to the Stars, which launched to the International Space Station in late 2025.[1] The Sailing to the Stars experiment tested the deployment of six light sails in the microgravity environment of the space station and obtained critical video footage and IMU data.[2] The results cover both payloads, though the release does not detail Alpha CubeSat's findings beyond its participation in the mission.
