SpaceX has delayed planned Mars missions to prioritize NASA lunar missions, with the next viable Mars launch window opening in late 2028.[1] The shift in strategy comes as flight directors selected to lead teams for missions to the International Space Station, Artemis missions to the Moon, and future human missions to Mars take their posts.[2] In recent operations, the Crew-13 spacecraft docked with the International Space Station just 7 hours and 55 minutes after launch, setting a new record for the fastest US launch and docking to the ISS in history.[4] SpaceX also completed its first orbital launch of the new Starship rocket on Monday morning.[5] Separately, a satellite was launched aboard a SpaceX rocket, with Planet responsible for commissioning the on-orbit system.[3] NASA is developing the PRIMA far-infrared space telescope, the first mission in the new Probe Explorers astrophysics class.[6] The agency also selected three new scientific payloads to support its Moon Base program and advance lunar exploration.[7]
