On 8 October 2026, the European Space Agency publicly launched the Earth Virtual Expert, or EVE, artificial intelligence platform for Earth observation information access.[1] The same day, ESA confirmed its Hera mission has successfully arrived at the Didymos double asteroid system, accompanied by the two CubeSats Milani and Juventas.[4] Didymos is typical of thousands of asteroids that pose an impact risk to Earth.[8] Agency publications the same date documented growing unintended impacts of low Earth orbit satellite constellations on astronomy. Jan Siminski, ESA space debris analyst, stated these satellites reflect sunlight and generate stray radio emissions that interfere with sensitive telescopes and faint signal observations.[6] [7] Also on 8 October, Paratus Namibia launched Eutelsat OneWeb satellite connectivity service for residential and commercial customers across the country.[3] ESA also released details of the one-tonne ONEIROS demonstrator lander, and confirmed a consortium including The Exploration Company is studying a deployable lunar remote camp concept.[2] [5]
