The US Federal Communications Commission has approved SpaceX's Starlink Mobile Gen2 constellation application, authorising launch of up to 15,000 satellites optimised for 2 GHz spectrum globally.[1] SpaceX plans to combine this satellite network with low-band radio spectrum licences to deliver high-speed service directly to unmodified devices anywhere. No commercial launch timeline has been announced.[2] All elements of the planned architecture require final FCC sign off before deployment can proceed.[4] SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell had previously forecast a Starlink Mobile launch in late 2027, during the company's August quarterly results presentation.[3]
