Multiple new astronomy observations using leading telescopes were published this week. Researchers used the Hubble Space Telescope to conduct near-ultraviolet transmission spectroscopy of the ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-76b [1]. The James Webb Space Telescope detected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the galaxy Sextans A, and observed the star-forming region NGC 7129 3,300 light-years from Earth [2] [3]. ALMA captured a new submillimeter view of a distant galaxy [4]. Separate work used observations from the Legacy Survey of Space and Time at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory [5]. Data from the JWST observations of NGC 7129 will be used to study how young stars and protostars influence surrounding gas and dust to enable new star formation [7]. Published results note modern observatories are revealing dynamically mature galaxies early in cosmic history [6].
