NASA's Space Algae-1 experiment grew ultraviolet light-mutagenised Chlamydomonas reinhardtii algae in the International Space Station's VEGGIE plant growth chamber for approximately 40 mitotic generations over one month. ^[2] The strain, an ultraviolet light-mutagenised Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, spent about a month in VEGGIE, the station's plant growth chamber. In a separate station matter, astronaut Sophie Adenot traveled to the orbital laboratory carrying a special Pikachu plush toy. ^[1]
