Roman Space Telescope set for early 2026 observations, NASA says

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, named after NASA's first chief of astronomy, will begin formal observations in early 2026 with a five-year mission and possible ten-year extension.

NASA plans to begin formal observations with the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in early 2026, with an initial mission duration of five years and possible extension up to ten years, the agency stated.[6] The telescope will investigate dark energy, dark matter, black hole structures, and the evolution of the universe.[5]
