A recently identified lunar impact crater has received the official name McGetchin. [1] The crater formed between April 11 and May 22 2024, near the eastern edge of the Moon. The impacting body was an asteroid or comet estimated to be between three and six stories in size. [2] No additional measurements of the crater's dimensions or exact impact date have been released.
